The film, directed by James Cameron, has earned a single win out of four nominations along with a poor performance at the box office. The film was a major step in the evolution of on-screen CGI visuals, with liquid aliens being the main reason The Abyss won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Men In Black is a famous movie directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. Rick Baker won the Oscar for Best Makeup. This is Rick’s most famous work when he collaborated with David LeRoy Anderson who was active in a passionate way.

Fantastic Voyage is directed by Richard Fleischer and nominated for three Academy Awards. The film won 2 Oscars for Best Visual Effects and Best Costume.

Top 2: Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
Close Encounters of the Third Kind, directed by Steven Spielberg, has been nominated for eight Academy Awards. The film won a pairing with Vilmos Zsigmond winning Best Cinematography and a Special Achievement Award for sound effects editing for Frank E. Warner.

Top 1: Best Science Fiction Movie – The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is an excellent science fiction film when it received a rain of praise, becoming a successful film of the time both in terms of revenue and art. The film won 7 Oscars including Best Picture. This is also the only film in the sci-fi genre to win in this category.
